Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor

Day Rate: £210 – £250 (Depending on experience)

Weekly hours: 44 hours (Potential overtime)

Duration of Contract: ONGOING

Location: West Central London (Site Based)

Company Description

My client is a leading international mechanical, electrical & public health services contractor. The business offer services to the commercial, healthcare, residential, hotel & infrastructure sectors, while providing the complete project “turnkey solution”. Due to consistent/ strong growth they are now seeking Electrical Duty Holder/Electrical Appointed Person, to oversee their central London projects reporting to the Projects Director. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced AP to oversee a landmark projects department, to further progress their career while working with an extremely reputable MEP contractor.

Responsibilities/ Skills & Experience

  • Manage all aspects of the NICEIC online system including monthly payments and updating insurances.
  • Preparing for and attending NICEIC annual assessments.
  • Effective investigate all electrical incidents and report on immediate and root cause with remedial actions.
  • Monitor all Authorised Persons including work carried out under the Permit to Work system, manage, and control permit records, Keys and logs.
  • Assessing, appointing, and confirming competency levels of Authorised Persons and maintaining up to date logs and registers.
  • Ensure all Sites have a lockable Mimic chart system in place which contains the Site LV Distribution schematics identifying the status of Energisation across the Project.
  • Ensure the Authorised Persons are managing, controlling and updating the mimic chart system and fully understand the mimic chart colour coding.
  • Ensure there is a site-specific Lock Out/Tag Out system in place across all Projects.
  • Ensure Safe Starts applicable to Electrical Safety are carried out and in place.
  • Ensure there is a site-specific Electrical Safety Plan in place across all Projects.
  • Ensure all RAMS associated with energisation is in place across all Projects.
  • Ensure all Sites have Test Equipment proving units in place.
  • Ensure audits are carried out on all sites at least 2 weeks prior to site energisation.
  • Have full responsibility for all matters relating to enrolment of Authorised Persons and implementation of ESSW.
  • Have responsibility for Electrical Safety and other legal requirements relating to the range of electrical work the business undertakes.
  • Be responsible for the assignment of electrical work to the Authorised Persons.
  • Ensure that all work undertaken or arranged is carried out by Competent Persons who are appropriately supervised.
  • Ensure that the appropriate certificates and reports are issued for all completed electrical works on all projects.
  • Ensure that the relevant information, instruction, training and supervision is afforded to all employees, sub-contractors and third parties in relation to ESSW.
  • Assessing and confirming electrical competency levels of all personnel associated with the ESSW and maintain an up-to-date register, including all Letter of Appointments.
  • Communicate to all employees and sub-contractors updates on standards and regulations relating to ESSW. Ensure they are properly assigned and understood by all employees within the area of responsibility relating to Electrical Safety.
  • Have current and up to date knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Formulate, establish and continue to improve the Electrical Safety Policy relating to ESSW.
  • Formulate, establish and improve the Electrical Safety Objectives and Procedures relating to ESSW.
  • Ensure that all Authorised Persons have a thorough understanding of ESSW.

Specific Career Experience

  • Previous experience working as an Electrical Appointed Person ideally with a national contractor for a min 5 Years.
  • Hold an industry relevant City & Guilds/NVQ L3 electrical qualification or equivalent.
  • Hold a valid Site Manager (SMSTS) certificate.
  • Will need to be able to understand building services including design principles, method statements, 18th Edition Amendment 2, NICEIC requirements, Inspection Test Plans, Risk Assessments, commissioning and handover requirements, RAMS, Site Safety, and compliance with HAS.
  • Able to communicate with subcontractors, consultants, and other team members.
