Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Project Manager/Contracts Manager to oversee a major design and complete build in Cambridge. This permanent role will involve managing mechanical installations and ensuring the project is delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Oversee and manage all mechanical aspects of the major design and complete build project.
  • Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved.

Technical Oversight:

  • Supervise the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical work complies with industry standards and regulations.
  • Resolve any technical issues that arise during the project lifecycle.

Contract Management:

  • Manage day-to-day operations on-site, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure quality control.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments as needed.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Serve as the primary contact for mechanical aspects of the project, liaising with clients and stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on progress and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure client requirements and specifications are met and exceeded.

Progress Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, including daily logs, site reports, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager and senior management.

Career Development:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or Contracts Manager, particularly in large-scale commercial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation practices, and project management.
  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications in City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering along with health and safety practices (e.g., NEBOSH, SSSTS/SMSTS) are preferred.
