Job Title: MEP Buyer
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (including additional company benefits)

My client is a market dominating mechanical & electrical building services contractor located within Central London who provide full MEP design and installations services to commercial offices, banking establishments, education, residential and pharmaceutical laboratories. Due to a strong pipeline of work, they are now recruiting a Electrical Contracts Manager to oversee a flagship high-end residential project in central London. Responsibilities/ Skills & Experience
- Dealing with site requisitions and placing orders always including call-off requisitions – following company procedures.
- Checking delivery dates on the requisition can be achieved and notifying site where not possible.
- Ensuring the requisitions are completed correctly and have accurate product codes and cost centres.
- Obtaining 3 quotes from relevant suppliers – taking into consideration supplier lead times, terms, and discounts.
- Getting the best price from suppliers before placing orders
- Monitoring urgent deliveries and chasing back-orders.
- Keeping record of suppliers with consistent backorders.
- Completing purchasing trackers and ensuring they are up to date/accurate.
- Checking the procurement tracker regularly and chasing for requisitions if goods are status A.
- Assisting the design engineers with quotations and product selection.
- Ensuring that the BOM is checked for bulk orders to prevent over ordering.
- Checking that products have a tech sub before placing orders.
- Visiting site weekly. Going through the site checklist with supervisors/stores ensuring.
- Checking outstanding order spreadsheet.
- Chasing site for take-offs when necessary – creating call-offs on MFM and managing them.
- Arranging returns with suppliers and informing the Purchasing Manager so to ensure trackers are up to date and credits are monitored.
- Always checking delivery times when placing orders.
- Filling in Trackers daily making sure all information is accurate.
- Being aware of back orders and chasing keeping site aware.
- Getting orders signed off.
- Going to site and talking to all PM’S supervisors to help them understand cost implications to their jobs going through trackers and any issues checking stores for overstocking and checking progress of job. Helping to develop procurement plans.
- Checking suppliers are aware of any site delivery restrictions.
- Making sure site have as many call offs as possible and helping to manage these call offs to ensure no overstocking and that site always have material as required.
- Checking that all product meet Cilantro’s warranty and safety procedures.
- Making note of supplier issues and bringing it to attention of the supply chain.
- Be the link between suppliers site team and Purchasing Manager.
- Keeping up to date with outstanding orders on the EQUE2 system so accounting can be up to date and relevant.
- Dealing with any invoice quires straight away making sure people are aware of a problem straight away if a payment issue.
- Going to procurement meetings and having information ready.
- Being aware of plant on site and questioning site.
- Being flexible to perform other duties as required.
- Being up to date and aware of all EQUE2 reporting and functions.
- Purchasing of material in an efficient manner.
